Toledo is a small city to visit but big enough to deserve an overnight stay. Those who stay after the tour groups head back to Madrid find a completely different city, with quieter streets, illuminated monuments, and an atmosphere that simply doesn't exist during the day. And for that, of course, you need a place to sleep.
In this article, we recommend three options for different budgets. We personally stayed in two of them and recommend both without hesitation, each for different reasons. The third is such a well-known landmark in Toledo that it would be dishonest not to mention it, but we will be transparent to say we haven't stayed at the Parador. The recommendation is based on its reputation and the views it offers of the city.
One thing worth knowing before choosing where to stay is that in Toledo, location is rarely an issue because the historic center is small and everything is within a few minutes' walk. What changes from one hotel to another is the vibe, the comfort, and what you are willing to spend for a night.

Posada de Peregrinos
The best budget option we know in Toledo and one of the best surprises we've had. It is a small, family-run guesthouse with simple but very clean rooms and an owner who treats guests like visitors in her own home. The location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk from Puerta de Bisagra and the historic center.
The only detail to know before booking is that the bathroom is shared, two rooms per bathroom. In practice, it wasn't a problem at all, but it's good to know in advance.
Price: Starting at €40 per night during peak season. It should be cheaper on weekdays during the off-season.

Hotel Pintor El Greco
From the outside, it doesn't look like much, but once you step inside, you understand why it is so highly rated. The hotel is set in a historic building, and the rooms have original elements that give them a personality that modern hotels rarely manage to imitate. Everything is very tidy and well-maintained.
We stayed in a simpler room, and it was already great. Larger rooms are more expensive but also more impressive. If you want a more special experience in Toledo without spending what the Parador costs, this is our recommendation.
Price: Starting at approximately €100 per night, depending on the season and the room.

Parador de Toledo
This is one of the most famous in Spain's Paradores network. It is located across the Tajo River with direct views of the city, and it is probably the best place in Toledo to wake up to in the morning. For a special occasion, it is definitely worth considering.
Price: Starting at €140 in low season. In April and peak season weekends, it can easily exceed €300.
