Spain is one of the leading destinations in the world for festival tourism. Throughout the year, millions of people attend its festivals, which boost the local economy of the cities that host them. The indie, rock and metal calendar has something for everyone, from big festivals with international bands to local line-ups from the Spanish independent scene, and the peak comes in July and August.
If you want to build your trip around a festival, it is wise to plan early. Buying your ticket in advance is usually cheaper, and in summer it is hard to find accommodation in the cities. That is why we have put the 2027 calendar together here, so you can plan without rushing.

We update the page as each festival confirms its dates and line-up.

Which festival to choose
Primavera Sound, Mad Cool, Bilbao BBK Live, FIB, Mallorca Live, Cruïlla and O Son do Camiño mix styles and bring the best-known international line-ups. This is where people who want to see big bands touring Europe tend to find what they are looking for. Among those that publish attendance figures, Viña Rock drew more than 240,000 people in 2025 and Festival Noroeste, in A Coruña, 125,000 in 2026.
Anyone who prefers metal and heavy rock will find most of the options in summer. Leyendas del Rock, Rock Imperium, Resurrection Fest, Z! Live Rock and Barcelona Rock Fest are metal and heavy rock festivals. Names already confirmed for 2027 include Helloween, Bruce Dickinson, Mercyful Fate and Saxon. Azkena Rock brings together classic and American rock. Viña Rock mixes rock, punk and fusion in Spanish. For punk rock and hardcore, there are Bilbo'N'Roll, Barna'n'roll and Gazpatxo Rock.
At indie and independent music festivals, most of the line-ups are Spanish bands. SanSan, Jaleo!, Interestelar Sevilla, Granada Sound, Ebrovisión, Festival Gigante, Contempopranea and Tenerife Peñón Fest work almost exclusively with artists from the country. The same names appear at several festivals, such as Viva Suecia, Siloé and Mala Gestión. Primavera Sound, Warm Up and Degusta Festival book more bands from abroad.
The season starts in March with SanSan and is concentrated between June and August. In August, the heavy rock festival is Leyendas del Rock. In autumn, the calendar continues with smaller festivals, such as Love to Rock, Contempopranea, Cáceres Underground Weekend and Tenerife Peñón Fest. It ends in December with Purple Weekend.
Jaleo!, Gazpatxo Rock, Bilbo'N'Roll, Barna'n'roll and Lion Rock last one day, which makes it easy to fit a festival into a weekend trip. Dates and line-ups can change, so always check the official website before buying your ticket.
