National Cheese Fair of Trujillo

The National Cheese Fair of Trujillo is one of Spain’s most established cheese events. Held annually since 1986, it takes place in the historic Plaza Mayor of Trujillo, bringing together dozens of producers from across Spain and the Iberian Peninsula. The Fromago Cheese Experience is held every two years in Zamora, bringing together producers from across the Iberian Peninsula and beyond. The last edition took place in 2024, and the next is scheduled for 2026, but it’s such an exceptional event that it certainly earns a place on this list. During the fair, the streets of Zamora are transformed into a large open-air food market, with stalls, tastings and cultural activities throughout the city.
The programme features pairings, workshops and talks led by industry experts, alongside cheese competitions and awards. A wide variety of cheeses with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) are showcased, celebrating both traditional craftsmanship and market innovation. The fair also welcomes international producers, fostering an exchange of techniques and flavours.
