The Verano Joven (Youth Summer) program is an initiative by Spain’s Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility that offers significant discounts for young people aged 18 to 30 to travel by public transport. The program aims to encourage domestic and European tourism, allowing more people to explore various destinations affordably during the summer months.
In 2025, Verano Joven is back with a budget of €130 million to finance discounts of up to 90% on train tickets in Spain and Interrail passes for travel across Europe. It’s an excellent opportunity for those who want to discover Spanish and European cities while spending much less, with valid travel dates from July 1st to September 30th, 2025.
Who can benefit from Verano Joven 2025?
To be eligible for Verano Joven discounts, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be born between January 1st, 1995, and December 31st, 2007, inclusive (i.e., be between 18 and 30 years old).
- Be a Spanish national or a foreign resident with legal residency in Spain.

How to register for Verano Joven?
Ready to secure your discount?
Click here to register on the Ministry’s official website and get your Verano Joven code!
To access the discounts, it is mandatory to register for the program. You must do so at least 24 hours before making your first purchase so that the Ministry can verify that you meet the eligibility requirements.
After registering, you will receive a personal and non-transferable code (example: JV25-00000000T-xxxxx). This code must be provided to the operating companies (such as Omio) at the time of ticket purchase for the discount to be applied. Companies will begin selling discounted tickets as they adapt their systems, so check the operators’ sales channels for more information.

Verano Joven terms of use and penalties
To ensure that everyone can enjoy the program fairly, some terms of use and rules must be followed:
- Booking restriction: It is not permitted to book more than one round trip per day for the same origin-destination pair with the same company (rail or bus, as applicable to the benefit), unless the previous trip has already been completed or cancelled.
- Cancellation: If you need to cancel a ticket, do so at least 24 hours in advance. This is crucial to avoid misuse and free up the seat. Exceptions may apply to short-duration bus journeys.
- Personal use: The registration code is personal and non-transferable. Use by another person is considered misuse.
Penalties: The Ministry may withdraw the registration code from beneficiaries who accumulate more than six detected misuses, either in rail or road transport. Prior to the penalty, you will be notified of each misuse by SMS to your mobile phone or registered email. Once the code is withdrawn, the infringer will not be able to register again to benefit from this measure.
