The Verano Joven (Summer Youth) is an initiative from the Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, offering significant discounts for young people travelling on public transport. The programme aims to facilitate travel for young people aged between 18 and 30, both within Spain and across Europe, during the summer months.
Travel with discounts is valid between 1 July and 30 September 2026.
Who can take advantage of Summer Youth 2026?
To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have been born between 1 January 1996 and 31 December 2008 (aged 30 or under).
- Hold Spanish nationality or be a foreign national with legal residency in Spain.
How does the registration work?
Registration is mandatory and must be completed via the official Ministry website at least 24 hours before your first purchase. Once the process is complete, you will receive a personal, non-transferable code which must be provided to the transport operators when purchasing tickets. Operators will apply the discounts as they update their systems.

What discounts are on offer?
The discounts apply to single and return tickets, with the following specifications:
90% discount:
- Mid-distance trains (including "ancho métrico" regional lines).
- State-regulated bus lines.
50% discount:
- High-speed services (with a maximum limit of €30 discount per ticket).
- Conventional long-distance trains.
- Avant services.
- Interrail Global Flexible Pass (10 days in 2 months, when sold via Renfe).
How to book your discounted tickets on Omio
With your Verano Joven code in hand, follow these simple steps to book:
Search for your route
Access the Omio website or app and enter your origin, destination, and travel dates.
Select the discount
- Click on the discount cards section (usually labelled as "No discount card").
- Select the number of tickets you need and click on the discount icon.
- In the "Use discount cards" section, search for "Verano Joven".
- Enter your personal code for the provider you wish to use and click Save.
Choose and pay
- Select the train or bus option that best suits your needs.
- Proceed to the payment page to complete your booking at the reduced rate.
Conditions of use and penalties for Summer Youth
To ensure the correct use of the programme, observe these rules:
- Booking restrictions: It is not permitted to book more than one return journey per day for the same origin-destination pair with the same company, unless the previous journey has been completed or cancelled.
- Cancellation: Tickets must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance.
- Personal use: The Registration Code is personal and non-transferable.
Penalties: Misuse, including use by third parties or failure to cancel, may lead to the permanent withdrawal of the registration code following warnings sent via SMS or email.
