Lavender Train 2026: dates, prices and how to buy tickets

Every July, the lavender fields of Brihuega burst into bloom and the Guadalajara region becomes a destination for those who want to see this landscape up close. To make the visit easier from Madrid, Renfe organizes the Lavender Train, a one-day trip that includes transport, guided tours and entry to the fields.

What is the Lavender Train?

Despite the name, the train does not go directly to the fields. The trip starts in Madrid and ends at Guadalajara station. From there, the transfer to Brihuega is by bus, as part of a route organized by Renfe.

What to expect from the Lavender Train tour

The day starts with a guided tour of Brihuega's historic center, where the streets fill up with stalls selling artisan products, cosmetics and food made with lavender. After that, there is free time for lunch, which is not included in the ticket price.

Next, the group visits the essential oils distillery Jardín de la Alcarria, where the production process of lavender-derived products is explained. The day ends at the fields in bloom, where you can walk among the plants and take photos of that characteristic purple landscape. In the late afternoon, the bus takes the group back to the station for the return train to Madrid.

Practical tips

Vento sobre os campos de lavanda

Wear light-colored clothing, preferably white. The contrast with the purple flowers looks great in photos and almost everyone does it.

Watch out for bees. The fields attract a lot of them during bloom. If you have a severe allergy, bring medication just in case.

If you have a pollen allergy, bring your antihistamine. July is peak bloom season.

Wear closed-toe shoes with thick soles. The path through the fields has loose stones and uneven ground, so sandals and heels are not a good idea.

Bring a hat or cap. There is no shade in the fields and the July sun in Guadalajara is intense.

Bring water. There is a stall at the entrance to the fields, but it tends to run out quickly.

Bring cash. Some stalls at the festival and in the fields do not accept card payments.

For tastings of local products, be aware that these may not be suitable for people with food intolerances or allergies.
