Five annual cheese events and fairs in Spain

Spain has many cheeses with protected designation of origin (PDO) and a huge variety of flavours and textures. To celebrate this, fairs and festivals bring together producers, experts and enthusiasts throughout the year, with tastings, competitions and plenty of food.

Here we bring together six cheese fairs and festivals, with the time of year when they usually take place, where they are held and how entry works for each one. The dates shift a little from year to year, so we use the approximate period, and it is worth checking the exact date on the official website closer to your trip.

If there's one thing we love, it's cheese. And Spain offers no shortage of events for those who share that passion. Each of these fairs is a great opportunity to sample outstanding flavours and learn more about the country's rich cheese-making tradition.

Among them all, the Fromago Cheese Experience holds a special place in our hearts. Zamora becomes a true cheese haven, with stalls spread throughout the city and tastings around every corner. But while we wait for the next edition, there are plenty of other fairs taking place across the country to satisfy your cravings and maybe even help you discover a new favourite cheese.

If, like us, you can't resist a good cheese, make a note of these dates and consider adding at least one of these fairs to your next trip.
