San Isidro Festival Programme 2026

The San Isidro Festival is the most significant and traditional folk celebration in the city of Madrid. The event honours San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of both the capital and farmers. The 2026 edition concentrates its official programme between the 8th and 17th of May. The peak of the festivities occurs on the saint's day, the 15th of May. This date is a municipal public holiday when the city comes to a standstill and residents celebrate 'castiza' traditions in the streets, honouring Madrid's oldest and most genuine customs.

The event transforms the Spanish capital into an open-air stage and distributes hundreds of free activities across various districts. The programme intersperses classic customs with contemporary entertainment. Visitors can follow religious pilgrimages and parades of 'chulapos' in the morning and attend independent rock concerts or participate in gastronomic festivals at night. There is something for everyone.

The scale of the event requires geographical planning. The Pradera de San Isidro serves as the main hub for daytime activities, while the Plaza Mayor and the Jardins de las Vistillas are better suited for the evening, hosting free concerts and larger events.

We have organised this complex schedule for you, preparing an exclusive interactive tool with the main events from the official programme. You will be able to filter hundreds of attractions by day and venue to create a perfect itinerary and avoid confusion amidst the crowds.
